Wedding Season

Wedding season is in full swing and no doubt that your calendar is full up for the upcoming weekends. Which also means you will be spending countless hours staring blankly at your closet wondering what the heck you’re going to wear and how to style your look.
No matter how simple your wedding outfit may be, you can always glam it up in the jewellery department.
Luckily for you guys, we have the perfect jewellery for every occasion.
Whether you’re going to the classic wedding, or you're making a quick dash overseas for that dream destination wedding(secretly hoping to find a European date on the side ;-)
Here are just a few ideas of the different types of wedding you may be attending this season and some great jewellery ideas – no doubt you’ll be looking amazing, without outshining the bride!
x

I love these types of weddings – who am I kidding, I love every wedding!                  Pair your outfit with a piece (or pieces) from Lindi Kingi’s Halo range. This beautiful, delicate and romantic range, has the perfect amount of sparkle and detail to give your outfit an understated look but still glam.                                                              The diamond cut and white topaz features will be sure to reflect when those fairy lights (you know they’ll be there) shine!

The lights and stars really set the tone for an evening wedding. The darkness of the night will let any jewellery stand out, so you can really afford to wear mixed metals for this occasion, so you can’t go wrong with some pieces from Boh Runga's Stargazers collection.

I find that there’s something romantic about a starry night, and if the stars don’t come out to play for whatever reason, then at least you’ll be there shining bright!

Who doesn’t love a good destination wedding!? (Except maybe your bank account?) Lets say, for blogs sake, your destination wedding is in the Mediterranean (dreams are free) Make sure you opt for a light outfit so that you don’t pass out from the heat. Most importantly, don’t forget to pack some gold jewellery with you! Then you’ll shine just like the Mediterranean sunset and you’ll for sure make a statement!

I’m absolutely LOVING my Karma deco earrings in gold at the moment and they would look amazing for this type of occasion.plus the Boh Runga gold lil stackers for a lil extra shine.

For a beach wedding, it would only be fitting to wear a piece from  A Drop in the Ocean. There’s no better feeling than the warm sand beneath your feet at a wedding  –Droplet designs are also available in gold and rose gold.

If your mates aspire for that luxury life and are having a super chic black tie wedding that will rival Kimye’s, then look no further than the Lindi Kingi Deluxe Afterlight collection, it  pairs super well with black attire and the diamond cut texture catches the light at every angle so you’ll be sure to shine! – and be sure to enjoy that expensive champagne!

For a classic wedding, you can’t go past the forever popular Feather Kisses range by Boh Runga. Every piece is different so there is literally something for everyone here, and it suits all kinds of weddings all year round. So if you want a standard piece that you can wear to every one of your wedding excursions, go for this range, you won’t be disappointed!

enjoy the season of love

xx Hannah

It's Our Birthday!

March is our Birthday at The Mint Republic!

We can hardly believe it ourselves, that a year has passed since we took over the jewellery business from NZ Mint. It sure has been a crazy year for us, with all our designers producing and showing new collections under The Mint Republic umbrella.

We started off the year with the release of ‘Alchemy Ember’ by Lindi Kingi Deluxe. The collection was an extension of her original ‘Alchemy’ range, but produced with gold and rose gold flash plating. The warm toned jewels, with the classic Lindi Kingi edge, were the perfect accessory coming into winter!

Our girl Boh expanded her ranges by producing some of her bestselling pieces in Gold and Rose Gold. The ever popular ‘Feather Kisses’, ‘Lotus’ and ‘Droplets’ in the years’ hottest hue were a huge hit with our stores and customers! -  proving that the rose gold trend is here to stay!

Also brought out by Boh, not long after, were the mega cute new packaging options for earrings and rings. These little boxes wer a favourite among Boh fans and were such an awesome addition to everyone’s collection.

New Zealand Fashion week in August rolled around really fast with the release of Lindi Kingi Deluxe ‘Halo’ collection. The range, a little different from the Lindi Kingi we are used to seeing, focused on the idea of beauty and illumination. The elegant range consisted of beautiful white topaz and subtle texture through the classic diamond cut feature. This collection also married up well with Lindi’s own design brand (‘Lindi Kingi Design’) in her fashion week showroom. The colours of both collections were soft and a beautiful sight to see.

Gala Darling later launched her latest collection ‘Manifest’, which embodied what the Darling brand is about. ‘Manifest’ was designed as a daily reminder to help you believe in the power of visualization, and taking your dreams to the next level. The delicate chains were so beautiful and simple for everyday that it’s safe to say they became a staple in everyone’s jewellery collections.

In October Boh released her newest collection – ‘Mini Messenger’ – Which had practically sold out before it had even hit the shelves! The pieces were dainty and delicate and beautifully Kiwi, everything you’d expect from a classic Boh collection.

We are beyond happy with the success of  2015 and we cannot wait to see what the rest of 2016 brings us!

xx

Rarotonga - the relaxing "jewel" of the Pacific

I have to say March simply went by in a whirlwind!, although I have been managing the Jewellery business at NZ Mint for over three and a half years when I finally took the plunge and bought it to run as The Mint Republic nothing could prepare me for the changes and excitement and work that lay ahead.
The Mint Republic has been humming along and we are enjoying the ride, with that being said we almost forgot the four (and a bit) night holiday we had booked in Rarotonga for the last few days of March.
There is nothing quite like arriving from the bustling pace of Auckland on a Friday night, to Rarotonga, 23 hours behind, the smell of Frangipani as you step off the plane and into the humid early morning air, all this seems to simply whisper RELAX to a busy mind and tired body.
Relax we did (to be fair there aren't too many alternatives) with days reading, napping, watching some sport at the local sports bar, eating beef wellington (seriously) and Eco- Tuk Tuk-king around the island, this is a place to really recharge the batteries.

Must Do
Eat - there are a few must try places on Rarotonga, Vaima Restaurant this place is a long held favourite, not only has it got beautiful, relaxing on the beach dining, the menu is the bomb! who would think a beef wellington on the island of Rarotonga will be one of the most delicious things you have eaten in 'like foreva? well it blimin well is, and the staff are awesome to boot.
During the day get on your scooter and give The Mooring Fish Cafe  a try OMG the FOB sandwich is to die for - fresh caught Mahimahi, lime aioli, and a few greens to keep you happy, otherwise the salads that were coming out of the container kitchen are on my list for next time.
if you have the pleasure of being in Raro on a Saturday head to the big metropolis of Avarua and get some serious island kai in the form of chop suey, or my personal fave ika mata (raw fish salad)
Drink- where to start? as always a little duty free on your room balcony doesn't go astray, but if you are into something with a little more "holiday" styling then head to Crown Beach Resort and Spa between 4.30 and 6.30 for a wee "happy hour" fishbowl cocktails are optional!
Travel- if you have an adventurous heart (and a cook islands drivers license!) rent a scooter and while away the hours going round and round this 32km island - its fun, just remember to watch out for falling coconuts if you, like us are there when theres a good bit of wind on.
if that's not your bag, give Karl and Tanya from Tik-e Tours a call and they will hook you up with a tour, or a dry ride to dinner.
I packed my Lindi Kingi Deluxe Skull Pendant  Lindi Kingi Deluxe Ear Cuffs Boh Runga Feather Kisses Pendant and silver stacker rings + my ever present Darling Spirit and Courage Cuff and just because I was heading on an adventure the Freedom Slide Charm Bracelet (bright pink leather of course!)
